Theme:  Modern Contemporary

This stunning modern contemporary home, located at 11 Farrer Park Road, was designed by Sky Chen for a family of three. The design brief was clear: create a cozy yet functional space that would serve as both a sanctuary for relaxation and a productive environment for work and study. The client requested a stylish study area for their son, ample storage throughout, and a unique shoe cabinet with an integrated settee for practicality. The overall goal was to blend comfort with modern aesthetics, providing an atmosphere that felt like a showroom yet functional enough for daily living.

The chosen colour palette of grey, white, and woodgrain creates a warm, neutral backdrop, enhancing the clean lines and open spaces typical of modern contemporary design. The space is designed to flow seamlessly, with careful consideration of material contrasts, such as the combination of stone, wood, glass, and steel, which adds both texture and depth. Each element of the home is carefully curated to balance style with functionality, creating spaces that are both visually appealing and practical for the family’s needs.

One of the standout features of the design is the Living & Dining Area, where the TV console and settee are linked together, incorporating stone elements for a refined yet cozy vibe. The space planning strategy maximized openness while ensuring every area served a specific function, from hidden storage solutions to the work and study zones.

Despite challenges such as integrating hidden storage with functional workspaces, the final result beautifully encapsulates the family’s lifestyle, offering a home that is as comfortable as it is stylish.
